Haiti Crises–Our Source Of Divine Inspiration In Manifesting Love, Bliss And Miracles

February 16, 2010 · Filed Under The Power of Compassion & Kindness

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

If you are looking to experience bliss, manifest miracles, feel love and loved, then you need to turn to the events in Haiti. There you shall experience who you are and who we are, much of it good; some not so good. However, you will come away feeling inspired by what you have experienced, knowing that even in the most desperate of conditions, hope can and does sustain us, even yielding a miracle or two.

Consider the reporters you may have seen on CNN and other stations who have had tears in their eyes while attempting to do anything they could to help the survivors in Haiti – or think about the Haitians who worked tirelessly with their bare hands to free loved ones, and others they did not know, from the rubble of destroyed homes and all types of buildings, including schools, hotel, stores, hospitals and restaurants.

Remember also the inspirational scene of neurosurgeon and CNN reporter SanJay Gupta who chose to stay, by himself through the night– with just his television crew – with patients whose doctors were ordered to leave. It was deeply moving to see him and his staff caring for patients who had received surgery so that no one died during their watch.

I recall, as well, experiencing a myriad of emotions while watching one CNN reporter be a loving supportive presence for a young girl who was pulled from the rubble but who later became emotional upon learning that the girl had not survived her trip to the second of two hospitals. He was inspiring because he allowed himself to feel and express his pain, and then release it in order to go onto the next Haitians in need of help.

The photographers and reporters who traveled to Haiti to report what was happening have been exceptionally inspiring because, with the ongoing aftershocks, as well as the possibility of violence, this was and is a dangerous assignment. To avoid the possibility of further destruction and loss of life, many have chosen to live like the people, out in the open air..

The faith of the Haitians has often moved me to tears. While the majority could easily have chosen anger and violence, they, as a community, have chosen to pray and walk through the streets in their community, singing their prayers. The strength, faith and trust in a Higher Power have enabled the young and the old to manage the terrible loss of their homes, schools and loved ones. How beautiful it has been to see adults coming to the aid of children who have lost their parents and others who chose to share their very limited water and food with those who had none. Their courage and resiliency have inspired all of us!

A particularly moving and inspiring consequence to the Haitian crises has been the stunning response of the entertainment world. On several major television shows, one carried on most of the major networks, entertainers from all over the world came together to add their pleas for donations. We are all being moved, touched and inspired to give whatever we can so that the children and people of Haiti will be able to survive, and with their dignity intact.

I have been deeply touched and moved, as well as inspired by the manner in which Haitians have coped with their circumstances. I question if I could have handled everything as elegantly as most of them have. But, I do know that I think of them when things go wrong in my world and remember that nothing I am going through compares with their challenges. In doing this, I change my perspective, see that everything is relative and that I am extremely blessed – and relieved from any sense of being weighed down by what I thought was a significant problem. In this way, I seem to create my own mini miracles.

Question: Has your life been changed by taking the time to remember the Haitians situation, compared with yours? (To be continued.)
